Tignale is a municipality with 1.321 inhabitants, which consist of six districts. They are connected with a panoramic road: The main village and seat of the municipality Gardola, Piovere, Prabione, Aer, Olzano and Oldesio.
The municipality is located in the heart of the “Parco Alto Garda Bresciano” at the west shore of Lake Garda surrounded by a beautiful mountain landscape. The picturesque town settles on a plateau overlooking the lake in the heart of idyllic meadows and forests.
Typical terraces with olive cultivation can be found at the hillsides. Tignale is surrounded by the nature park of upper Lake Garda and provides numerous hiking trails and mountain bike tracks.
The Mediterranean climate with comfortable, mild temperatures lasts throughout the year.
The historic centre of Tignale has a special charm, some houses (dating back to the XVII – XIX century) have picturesque portals of stone.
Especially worth visiting is the pilgrimage church “Santuario della Madonna di Montecastello” which dates back to the 17. century and settles on a promontory in an altitude of 700 m above the lake. The lemon-glasshouse located at the “Riviera dei Limoni” as well as the numerous caves in the region of Tignale are also worth seeing. |
