Bardolino is one of the most important and popular tourist destinations at Lake Garda. It is located at the east shore of the lake about 30 km form the provincial capital Verona. Bardolino is situated at the foot of the moraine hill with vineyards and olive groves. The hilly outback is cultivation area of the „Bardolino“ a very famous and worldwide known red wine.
“Punta Mirabello” and “Punta Cornicello” are two small and beautiful headlands extending from the village into the water. Bardolino adjoins Garda in the north, Lazise in the south and Costermano, Pastrengo and Affi in the east.
The origin of the village reaches far back: Remains of prehistorical stilt houses have been found (also in the other municipalities south form Bardolino).
The village is well known for the production of the famous Bardolino wine, as well as for its pretty old town with its alleys, many shops, typical restaurants and the long boardwalk.
The romanesque church “San Severo” with its interesting frescos showing the apocalypse of St. John as well as the church “Santa Maria” in Cisano and the olive oil museum at the “Gardesana” are well worth seeing.
Bardolino offers a large number of tourist facilities: hotels, guest houses, residences and campsites. Bardolino is an ideal holiday destination for gourmands: You can stop off at the numerous historical wine cellars along the wine route or taste traditional specialities in the typical restaurants “trattorie”. |
